Christmas Day

It is always great seeing all the Christmas decorations that are placed in front gardens.

A flowering  bottlebrush bush

and a flowering gumtree showing their lovely Christmas red colours.

The smoke you can see in the distance has travelled down from the awful New South Wales fires.

We still have smoke around and it is now from some of the bush fires in Victoria.  Our weather of late has been a lot cooler than Queensland and New South Wales just with the odd hot day but I am sure our hot weather will come too.

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas with good health and happiness.

Spring time - Late September and an October post

Spring time again and it is always lovely to see the bees at work.

We have had had some good rainfall

The magnolia blooms have been wonderful this year

and the blossom trees have shown their lovely colours

These poppies made quite a show

as well as the tulips

as well as  this yellow rhododendron.

It always makes my walks more enjoyable seeing what plants are out in flower and just enjoying the beauty of nature.

Winter time

On my walk through the Bush Owl land Reserve I was delighted to see the Pink Heath out in flower.  It is the State of Victoria's floral emblem.

There is always a Wattle tree out in flower and they always brighten up a dull winter's day.

Lots of replanting of the vegetation taking place

and there are always trees coming down over pathways etc. after the rain

Raindrops clinging on to the spikey branches.

There is always something different to see when going out for a walk.

Last of the Autumn colours

The Winter season has just  begun and I saw these Ornamental Pear trees on my walk last weekend.

A Corkscrew Willow

and more Autumn colours to brighten up a dull day

Maidenhair Fern I noticed in the Owl Bushland Reserve growing wild.

Autumn 2019

The Autumn colours were late this year due to the Indian summer we had.

There has been some interesting fungi around all in different shapes and sizes.

I saw these lovely proteas when visiting Melbourne recently.

With the rain we have been lucky to have had moss has started to appear.

An Autumn garland.

Whether it is dry or wet I enjoy my walks especially in the Autumn season.

The 15th Australasian Quilt Convention Quilt Show

I always enjoy going to the Royal Exhibition Building

There are always lots of vendors

and lots of beautiful quilts to see

I took this picture on one of my walks.  We are starting to see some Autumn colours despite our Indian summer.

A long dry summer

This summer it we have had some smoky days from the fires

the ground has been so dry

not much green grass but lots of yellow colour

It was nice to see these Ibis

 and this Eastern Rosella

and these three during my walks

A grey Heron

At last we have had some good rain fall

After the rain the sun came out and I was lucky to see this double rainbow.

It has been a dry long hot summer and as we head into Autumn I hope we get lots of rain to replenish the water catchments etc.
