Christmas in Melbourne City

When visiting Melbourne City I went and saw the Lego Christmas tree that had been erected in Federation Square

Whilst in Australia Father Christmas knows he must have a surf board!

it was a lovely display

adults and children alike enjoyed themselves

and a perfect sunny Melbourne weather day

Melbourne has some lovely arcades

and their decorations do not disappoint

I just loved this gingerbread man display in one of the shop's windows.

Finished for Christmas

Last Christmas I received a kit which contained all the necessities to make the above Christmas ornaments.  I am very happy to have them as an addition to our Christmas tree.

A lovely morning in the City of Melbourne

Lovely blooms on the jacaranda trees I saw walking through Parliament Gardens on a lovely sunny day in the City of Melbourne

This is a Memorial Statue of Pastor Sir Douglas and Lady Gladys Nicholls, well respected Aboriginal leaders.  Pastor Sir Doug Nicholls was also served as Governor of South Australia

Another view of the lovely walk through Parliament Gardens

Above and below are some of the lovely flower beds on display in Melbourne

There were a lot of students around having their photos taken with their degrees.  The flowers were a lovely background for them.

A walk in the park

Of late I have been taking the opportunity of doing a lot more walking an activity I really enjoy.

This park is near to where I live.

There are many walking paths to explore.

It is lovely to see the grass is still green from the rainfalls we have had of late.

It is a great area for walking and a lot of people take advantage of the good walking paths.

Cricket is once again being played and enjoyed.

There is different kinds of birdlife around where the water is.

It is always nice to see the white duck amongst  the other ducks.  In the picture the white duck  has taken a liking to standing on one leg.

Two ducks taking a rest on an object submerged in the waterway.

The path on the way back to the car.

Passing the trotting training track I was in time to see one of the trotters going around the track.

Although it was a grey day and not much sun shining  the temperature was warm and it was enjoyable for walking.

The last day of October

This is a Japanese Bag I made using a kit I bought from Kimono House.  Interesting way of making bag similar to origami.

Our mauve Rhododendron has grown to quite a large a tall plant.  We are enjoying lots of blooms this year.

Likewise our yellow Gazania is enjoying all the sunshine and has lots of flowers too.

We have had a very warm October this year which has broken the weather records kept over the years.  Let's hope we have some good rainfalls  or we are in for a very dry summer.

Spring flowers

On a recent drive I saw these lovely blue flowering bulbs

and these Polyanthas

a closer view

as well as these pretty Cyclamens

This year our winter has been very cold comparing it to the last few years.  Sunny spring days have been slow to start.  Now the weather is changing and we are enjoying some warm sunshine. Although it is nice to see some lovely sunshine  I hope we continue to get some good rainfalls as we can never have enough rain!

Our weather!

Last evening I saw the moon in the clear sky

A closer view

This morning we awoke to all the fog

which eventually cleared into a very warm summer's day of 35c.

In the afternoon a storm developed and the temperature dropped to 24c

and there was some welcome rain  for our garden.

Of course the sun returned and the humidity rose and of course the temperature was again 35c.
It is quite typical of our Melbourne weather that we have more than one season in a day!
Another very hot day tomorrow with the promise from the weather bureau that some cooler weather will be coming for us to enjoy!
